Beer is awesome for a lot of reasons, mostly the way it tastes. A little bit of a delicious aroma and a slight buzz are just bonuses. It turns out that beer (in moderation) is also good for us!
This week it was this article, A pint of beer a day keeps the doctor away, says study that caught my attention. It says that a glass of beer a day, might have more health benefits than a glass of wine. It doesn’t stop their either, one pint of beer, even has less calories than a glass of wine, plus beer may be more re-hydrating than a same sized glass of water! Of course, it all comes down to moderation, but I thought the results were pretty interesting, so I decided to dig a little deeper into what are the health benefits of drinking beer.
Health Benefits Of Drinking Beer
Prevents Cancer: Who knew! Hops weren’t just good for adding flavor to a beer, they’re also good for preventing cancer. That’s because a “flavonoid compound” called Xanthohumol prevents cancer, including prostrate cancer.
Decreases Risk Of Cardiovascular Disease: Vitamin B6 is found in beer, which is a good thing because it prevents the build up of homocysteine. Homocysteine is a bad thing because it can cause blockages in your arteries.
Increases Bone Density: Studies have shown that drinking beer can increase your bone density, preventing fractures and osteoporosis.
Beer Boosts Good Cholesterol: Cholesterol gets a bad rap, but there is good Cholesterol that can reduce the risk of Dementia and Coronary diseases. Drinking beer could cut your risk of suffering from both of these diseases by up to twenty percent.
Helps Your Digestive System: Beer has a bunch of benefits when it comes to digestion, including the stimulation of gastrin, gastric acid, cholecystokinin and pancreatic enzymes. I don’t know exactly what all of that means, but from what I’ve researched, that’s all good things!
Beers Is Anti-Aging: Beer increases the power of vitamin E. Vitamin E is awesome because it’s antioxidant and vital to healthy skin and fights the aging process.
Beer Prevents Anaemia: Beer has vitamin B12 and it’s friend folic acid, a lack of those guys could lead to anemia. Vitamin B12 also helps memory and concentration. Maybe drinking that beer while I was studying for finals in college actually helped after all.
Reduces Risk Of Diabetes: Moderate beer consumption has been tied to lower chances of type 2 diabetes.
Decrease Blood Pressure: A beer a day, could lower your blood pressure. In fact, some studies even say it’s a better way of decreasing blood pressure than wine or other adult beverages.
Cuts Stress: Studies show that beer reduces stress and makes it easier to sleep.
Removes Toxic And Waste Materials From The Body: Who knew that all of that going to the bathroom is actually a good thing because it leads to the removal of toxic and waste materials from the body.
Beer will make you more awesome. While their is no scientific proof to back it up just yet, there is lots of anecdotal evidence.
And on a side note, I just play a doctor on television, so you should probably contact an actual health professional before going on a beer diet.
This is interesting but is filled with typos. Get someone to edit your writing so people will take you seriously.
Maybe he was having his daily beer while he wrote this :p
Awesome info! More ammo to convince all the teetotalers in my church that a beer now and then is good. Thanks!
If you had an ounce of intelligence you would know that drinking one pint of beer a day is hypothetical…no real beer drinkers drink just one. If you’re going to write a blog why don’t you write about something you live rather than read and regurgitate.
Thanks for the research. Hiccup. Kidding. I quit beer 30 years ago because of excess drinking. But I have been drinking a little wine for 15 years. Recently I had a dental issue and was on antibiotics for an extended period which killed the bacteria and culture in my intestines. My digestion was slowly getting better. I taste tested an ale in the grocery store and it was wonderful but $15 per bottle. So my search for a cheaper version began. I like the low or no hops Belgian versions and one a day has really brought things back to balance. Better than before actually.
